The University of Incarnate Word is offering the International Freshman Merit Award Incarnate Word to first-degree-seeking undergrad students from the United States for the academic year 2020-21.

International students applying for admission to UIW in the very first instance straight from the high school level are eligible for application. The merit-based grants can be renewed for up to four years.


The University of the Incarnate Word, located in San Antonio, is a private Catholic institution established in 1881. UIW provides 90 baccalaureate degrees and 25 doctoral and graduate levels in various subjects.

First-time freshman students are automatically considered for academic scholarships as part of their application. These scholarships are awarded based on high school GPA and range between $7,000 – $20,000 per year (effective Fall 2022).

  • Acceptable Courses or Subjects The sponsor is awarded in the following areas: Biology/Life Sciences, Business/Management Communications, Computer & Information Systems, and Cultural Studies.
  • Acceptable Criteria To be considered eligible, participants must satisfy all of the following criteria as stated in the guidelines:
  • An international applicant who has citizenship in a nation outside the United States and does not possess US residency or citizenship residence is eligible to apply.
  • All students must keep the minimum grade point average of 3.0.
  • All transfer students automatically qualify for academic scholarships determined by their cumulative grades.
