At present, we provide students with online support as well as in-office. Students can schedule an online appointment to meet with Financial Aid advisors. Financial Aid advisors can be reached via phone, NMSU email, and at the front desk of our office within our Educational Services Building.

How NMSU Scholarship Application Works
Financial Aid and Scholarship Services helps our U.S. University's LEADS strategy by providing equal access and the possibility of financial aid to those who qualify through the state, federal institutions, private, and state sources, regardless of gender or color, age, or any other circumstance.

How much does it cost to attend NMSU?
A Cost of Attendance (COA) is a budget for students to cover education expenses during the school year's spring and fall semesters. Budgets for the spring and fall semesters will be determined for 4.5 months. A summer budget will be calculated for three months.
Although this is a total student budget, students aren't required to cover all costs directly to the university. Costs directly paid to NMSU are based on the tuition and fee rate determined by your credit hours and if you reside on campus and are enrolled in the meal plan. Eligibility for Federal Aid
Students who are interested in receiving grants or loans or work-study jobs when they apply NMSU scholarship application must meet the following eligibility conditions to be eligible as eligible for federal aid:
- Be a United States citizen or an Eligible Non-Citizen.
- You must have a high school diploma or GED or pass an examination administered by an outside agency (approved by the U.S. Department of Education).
- If you are eligible, sign up using The Selective Service or sign an acknowledgment that you've done it.
- Students must be degree-seeking students seeking their first bachelor's degree.
- Have a good academic record and have made good academic progress.
- It is essential to establish the need to determine the need for aid.
- You must be enrolled in at least three credit hours to be eligible for the students in the undergraduate Pell Grant, six credits for work-study loans and undergraduate loans, and five credit hours for work-study and graduate loans.
- Make sure you sign a document proving that you don't owe an amount due on a Federal Grant, nor are you in default on the Federal Student Loan.
- Students who have Criminal convictions aren't eligible to attend college.
- Fill out the free application for student Financial Aid (FAFSA) form.
Students will not be denied financial aid because of race, color, gender, disability or race, national origin, religious belief, sexual orientation, or veteran status.

Below are NMSU opportunity scholarship which includes NMSU scholarships for 2022-2023:
1. Incoming Student Awards
At NMSU, You may be eligible for an institution-wide scholarship based on the academic data you submit with the application to be considered for admission. GPAs are not rounded up but will be acknowledged as the exact number recorded in academic documents.
2. Continuing Student Awards
The Institutional Scholarships at NMSU are renewable for up to eight semesters (Fall and spring semesters). Students are required to fill out a scholar dollar application form to apply for or to renew the NMSU departments' scholarships. You can review the eligibility requirements and scholarships here.
The Scholar Dollar$ application is the sole application used by students and employees at New Mexico State University for processing applications, awarding, and submitting for scholarships. The system was developed in collaboration with Student Information Management in Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and is developed in collaboration in conjunction with the NMSU Foundation and The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Services.

Application Process
Before you can begin the FAFSA, it is necessary to sign up to get an FSA (Federal Student Aid) ID If you don't already have one. Follow the easy steps for completing the FAFSA in the following steps:
- For 2022-23 FAFSA will require tax details for 2020.
- Parent and student Social Security Numbers
- Birth date of the parent
- Student Alien Registration or Permanent Resident Card
- Parent and student previous year's tax forms W-2 for taxes.
- Previous years of parent and student Tax 1099 Forms
- Previous years of parent and student Tax 1098-T Forms
- Tax Returns for parents and students from previous years Tax Federal Tax Returns
- Parent and student previous years income tax-free documents (such as VA Non-Educational Benefits, Child support, or worker's comp)
- Current assets of parents and students, including savings, checking cash, the net value of the investment, and net worth of current investment farms and business farms
How to Manually Add to Nmsu Scholarship Application?
Students can apply to NMSU Financial Aid to add their school's code to an application. Students must supply the campus office that is their primary one along with their Data Release Number (DRN), which is a 4-digit number given to an application from Federal Student Aid.
DRN Number
- Visit the Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) website.
- Click on View and Print Your Student Aid Report.
- The Student Access page opens. Scroll down, then click to select the school year from the drop-down. Select the next.
- FSA ID page comes up. Input the information requested.
- SAR Transactions page comes up. Click on Transaction Number 01.
- The processing Information page comes up. Select The Student You Are (on the left right-hand).
- The Student page appears with the IDRN# appears there.

After You Submit Your FAFSA
- After you've completed your FAFSA, it's important not to change anything unless your Financial Aid Office instructs you.
- The Financial Aid Office will send all correspondence through the email address you have set for your NMSU scholarship application email. After you have been accepted to NMSU, It is essential to sign up for your account regularly and keep it in check.
